This card is about loss. It could be the death of a loved one, a broken love affair, divorce, the loss of a job, a child, a friend, of health, or of a dream. Whatever the loss, for me, there's only one earthly comfort---the loving presence of someone who cares for me. That's why my card doesn't say "With Deepest Sympathy." When grief is too terrible to bear---the thing that helps most is the loving presence of a friend. That's why this card says "Let me be with you in this." What can you do for someone in pain? Be with them. Hold their hand. That's Deepest Sympathy. |
