TAURUS: The Bull
April 20th - May 20th
A woman born under this star is grounded, and embodies practical, productive, solution-oriented energy. Hard working and generous, she shares the fruits of her labors with loved ones.
There are several legends connected with this sign. In one, the Greek god Zeus disguised himself as a white bull to hide his liaison with Europa from his jealous wife, Hera. Later, nearly 3,500 years ago, King Minos, ruler of Crete, master of the Aegean, and worshipper of the sacred bull, demanded that Athens send seven maidens and seven men every seven years to sacrifice to Zeus as bull dancers in the arena of his palace in Knossos.
To prolong their lives, dancers learned to vault between the horns of the bull, providing the king and his people with the bloody spectacle they relished.
In this image, the goddess is shown as one of those bull-dancers. Lithe and fearless, she leaps between the bull’s horns, performing her deadly dance in a still-existing courtyard of the palace at Knossos, complete with mural and the stone “Horns of Consecration.”
Celebrate her courage and steady spirit!
